About UMOM New Day Centers: Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, rebuild lives, and end homelessness. With an annual operating budget of $22 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and single women experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub.
Position Description: The Dishwasher/Utility reports to the Kitchen and Training Manager. The Dishwasher/Utility is an entry-level position that receives direct supervision and guidance from the Kitchen & Training Manager. The Dishwasher/Utility is a key role in an effectively run kitchen.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loads, runs, and unloads dish machine.
- Keeps the dish machine clean and reports any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
- Monitors dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
- Washes and stores all tableware and kitchenware.
- Maintains, cleans, and organizes the washer and dryer.
- Washes trash cans inside and out.
- Bags and hauls dish room trash and boxes to dumpster at designed times.
- Cleans and sanitizes utility carts.
- Maintains adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
- Cleans and organizes the employee area.
- Sweeps and mops the back breeze way.
- Flattens boxes and takes to the recycle bins.
- Cleans dining area after lunch.
- Cleans and sanitizes the beverage machines and area around them daily.
- Degreases, washes, and polishes all stainless steel as needed.
- Washes and dries towels and mop heads.
- Cleans mop buckets as needed.
- Keeps a dry mop ready for all spills.
- Sanitizes all hand washing sinks daily.
- Cleans all drains as needed.
Qualification and Competency Requirements:
Experience and Education
- Six months dishwashing experience preferred
Computer Skills
- Familiarity with, or ability to learn, basic applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook for email communication and documentation responsibilities
Compliance
- Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one.
- Have a current Maricopa Country Food Handlers Card or the ability to get one within one week upon hire

- This position is very active and requires standing, moving, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching all day. The duties of this job require regular exposure to kitchen conditions including heat, cold, humid, wet, smoke, and loud noises.

Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is 5 days a week with 2 consecutive days off. Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
