Full Job Description
The Distribution Operations Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant management of distribution functions within the cannabis industry. This position focuses on demonstrating proficiency in general and moderately complex cannabis distribution activities, serving as a resource on operations and compliance issues, and supporting human resource functions. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison between the distribution center and dispensary locations to ensure proper inventory levels and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and process cannabis products from third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) and METRC standards.
- Verify and input cannabis testing data to meet AZDHS compliance requirements.
- Provide adaptable administrative support to enhance productivity and meet the needs of the cannabis facility and business.
- Communicate effectively with internal staff and management, ensuring alignment with cannabis industry best practices.
- Help maintain and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) specific to cannabis distribution.
- Assist with employee scheduling and contribute to the hiring and onboarding of new team members within the cannabis sector.
- Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a positive work culture within the cannabis industry.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members across the cannabis supply chain.
- Participate in bi-weekly compliance audits to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence across all cannabis departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management, tailored to the evolving needs of the cannabis industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in management and employee relations within the cannabis industry.
- Background in inventory/product distribution, particularly in cannabis, is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence and interact at all levels within the cannabis organization.
- Highly organized, with the ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced cannabis environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn cannabis-specific software as needed.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports with a focus on cannabis industry compliance.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on cannabis terminology and regulations.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, particularly regarding sensitive cannabis-related information.
- Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced cannabis environment, managing high-stress situations, and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Flexibility to work 7 days per week if necessary and adjust schedules as required within the cannabis industry.
