Job Summary:
The purpose of the Roll Up Operator is to be responsible for rolling up finished rolls and assisting inspector in repairing of defects on finished goods.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Discuss style and color with inspector. Ensure the carpet; ticket and digital roll number are the same. Required at every new roll.
- Pull/push rolls into Roll-up cradle
- Pull roll flap across the table floor (approximate: 24’)
- Assist inspector of repairing goods (cut, trim, mark, chalk, etc.)
- Re-roll and wrap rolls
- Cut the finished roll at the required length stated in the CAMS system.
- Ensure finished roll is rolled straight and is void of wrinkles.
- Work with inspector – ensure all CAMS entries are correct (seconds, holds, scrap).
- Ensure that when cutting the carpet, waste is minimized.
- Cut banding from core bundle as needed.
- Monitor backing for defects.
- Keep area clean at all times.
Performance Expectations (if applicable):
- Lifting is required, a weight of 20 pounds 20 times per shift.
- Standing and walking approximately 8 hours per shift.
- Reaching is required approximately 50 times per shift.
- Stooping is required approximately 100 times per shift for approximately 10 second intervals.
- Bending is required in rolling carpet approximately 50 times per shift.
- Must be able to use scissors.
- Must be able to distinguish color and shades.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read and write
- Must be able to do basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
Other Requirements:
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- Must be able to identify yarn types on sight.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
