Position Summary: The Dock Operator is responsible for overseeing the movement of materials and products within the facility, ensuring that everything flows smoothly in receiving and shipping. This involves operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. Essential duties include unloading/loading trucks, delivering materials to production, and handling documentation for material receipts and deliveries. The Dock Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining production efficiency, organizing workspace, and upholding quality standards while demonstrating adept troubleshooting skills.
Essential Duties
Receiving Duties
- Thoroughly inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies to ensure they align with purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Safely operate mobile equipment to unload materials from delivery trucks or containers.
- Prepare the material presentation for production.
- Verify and document material quantities and specifications utilizing RFID, barcode scanners, or manual entry.
- Maintain updated inventory records, ensure the proper storage of received materials in designated areas, and strictly adhere to First In, First Out (FIFO) principles.
- Engage in effective communication with suppliers and internal departments to promptly resolve discrepancies or issues related to received goods.
Shipping Process
- Prepare products for shipping by careful packaging, labeling, and organizing them according to shipping instructions and customer requirements.
- Safely operate mobile equipment to load materials on delivery trucks or containers effectively and securely.
- Ensure the accuracy of shipping documents by verifying quantities, destinations, and packaging requirements.
- Coordinate with the logistics and transportation teams to ensure the prompt dispatch and delivery of products.
- Validate and record material quantities and specifications using barcode scanners or manual input.
- Monitor and document shipments to uphold precise shipping records and furnish updates, as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform daily, operational, routine, and periodic inspections on various equipment, including forklifts, manual pallet jacks, ride-on pallet jacks, and electric pallet jacks. These tasks include thorough examination, cleaning, and verification of operational integrity.
- Execute quality checks to meet prescribed standards.
- Adhere rigorously to safety standards and practices.
- Transport materials to the production staging areas and carefully check the documentation for accuracy to ensure the correct materials are received and used.
- Uphold a clean and organized work area following the ā6Sā methodology (Safety, Sort, Shine, Set-in Order, Standardize, Sustain).
- Effectively communicate with colleagues, providing updates on material status, damaged packaging, and other relevant information.
- Generate and process documentation, including delivery orders, lot tracking sheets, quality deviation sheets, and specifications.
- Address issues by demonstrating critical thinking skills to ensure operational efficiency.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees,ā wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications:Ā Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Preferred: High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or equivalent.
Essential Qualifications
- Proficient in the English language, encompassing adeptness in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Performing fundamental mathematical calculations and accurately counting raw materials and products.
- The ability to work with computer terminals, Operator Interface Terminals, touch screens, and RF scanners.
- Demonstrate a safety-conscious attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, automation, or assembly.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
