Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Dock Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our marine facility. The Dock Supervisor will be responsible for managing the docking and mooring of vessels, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and providing excellent customer service to boat owners and guests. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a thorough understanding of marina operations.
Responsibilities:
Dock Operations:
Supervise and coordinate the docking and undocking of vessels, ensuring a smooth and safe process.
Assign berths to incoming vessels, considering size, draft, and other relevant factors.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce and uphold safety regulations for both guests and staff.
Conduct regular safety inspections of docks, ramps, and other facilities.
Customer Service:
Provide exceptional customer service to boat owners, guests, and vendors.
Address inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication with marina staff, boat owners, and management.
Relay important information such as weather updates, maintenance schedules, and special events.
Maintenance Oversight:
Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of docks, piers, and other marina infrastructure.
Report any maintenance issues promptly and ensure timely resolution.
Financial Management:
Assist in monitoring and managing the marina budget.
Keep accurate records of dock usage, fees, and other financial transactions.
Security:
Implement security measures to protect boats and property.
Collaborate with local authorities if necessary to ensure a secure environment.
Requirements:
Experience:
Proven experience in a similar role within a marina or waterfront facility.
Knowledge of boating regulations, navigation, and marina operations.
Leadership Skills:
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team of dock staff.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Comfortable using communication tools such as radios or intercom systems.
Customer Focus:
Customer-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
Ability to build positive relationships with boat owners and guests.
Problem-Solving:
Effective problem-solving abilities and the ability to think on your feet.
Resourcefulness in handling unexpected challenges.
Working Conditions:
This position may require working weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
