Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Dock Master at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall operation of ship launches, dry docking and mooring of vessels at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Marinette WI. This position will also require the oversight of the Ship Lift by supervising and training Dock Department personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Manages the Docking Department that is responsible for the maintenance and care of all assets involved in docking/mooring operations.
* Provides direction and guidance for the Ship Lift facility maintenance.
* Presents information and corresponds with shipyard personnel and customers.
* Oversees and controls the vessel traffic within the shipyard's operational area and assists customers with arrival and departures from the pier.
* Calculates and monitors weight changes onboard the vessel while on Dock and at the Pier to ensure a positive stability of all vessels under company control.
* Manages the blocking, fendering, and line handling elements to safely dock, undock, and moor all vessels.
* Ensures compliance with appropriate FMM, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and USCG regulations.
* Supervises crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork, and pride.
* Interfaces directly and participates in meetings with the Navy and/or the customer.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace in a controlled work space, but has moving equipment, sometimes in elements with extreme conditions or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but with equipment can be noisy at time. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Associates Degree in a Project/Business discipline, plus a minimum of 3 years of broad-based shipyard dry docking experience or 8 years of experience in docking/mooring.
* Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering discipline preferred.
* Knowledge of 1625 series, Naval Ships Technical Manual, Chapter 997 and Facility Certifications Reports.
* Successful completion of a dry docking training course by a commercial certifying body or similar.
SKILLS:
* Read and interpret docking plans/arrangements, develop blocking plans with safe blocking loads based upon sound calculations, and be capable of layout/safe arrangement of blocks for docking.
* Execute safe ship movements from erection facility to ship lift.
* Execute safe ship movements along the dock wall with the assist of Tug Boats.
* Execute safe dry docking evolutions and vessel launching, analyze tide and wind conditions, and maintain weight logs and docking plans.
* Communicate with the Menominee River Dam to understand any activity that may be taking place at the same time of dock activities, i.e. Launch/Dry Docking, Ship Movement, etc.
* Safely operate small watercraft (J-Boat) in support of facility maintenance and dry docking/mooring evolutions.
* Develop, manage and execute a maintenance program that ensures a constant operational status for all assets and equipment necessary to facilitate the safe docking/mooring of vessels.
* Understand and maintain compliance with required United States Coast Guard (USCG), Military Sealift Command (MSC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA), and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) rules and regulations.
* Demonstrate strong situational awareness complemented by the ability to prioritize issues, resolving deck plate conflicts to maximize achievement of goals and objectives.
* Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
* Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. (Project, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as AutoCAD software.
* Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
* Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
* Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Must have ability to maintain confidentiality
