Door & Hardware Technician/Material Handler are a skilled group of individuals that masterfully handle all aspects of receiving, prepping and shipping. Correcting problems on jobsites for commercial doors, frames, hardware and accessories. Job activities include interpretation of shop orders, shop drawings and hardware templates to prep doors, frames and hardware to specifications. Actively support and participate in Continuous Improvements activities by applying Lean Manufacturing tools to daily activities

Essential Functions:
- Identifying and obtaining pertinent information from shop orders, shop drawings and hardware templates regarding hardware and manufacturing specifications.
- Set-up and operation of various bench and hand power tools including bench and hand grinders, saws, plasma cutting torch and routers.
- Set-up and operation of and arc welding equipment in prepping and modifying metal doors, frames and their components and other light gage sheet metal.
- Working with a variety of materials including sheet metal, wood, body putty, caulks and glass.
- Working safely and maintaining consistent quality of work at efficient productivity rates. Safe operation of forklifts for movement of materials.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and record keeping for production history and for inventory control.
- Accurately pulling and marking doors, frames, hardware and accessories required for job.
- Effectively communicating with supervisor/lead person, co-workers, office personnel and internal customers. Actively participate in door and process design and improvement activities.
- Assisting in other operations, as needed, including warehouse support, special project installations and other production area support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one or in a small group setting to other employees of the organization.
- Strong Mathematical Skills.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and work with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to stand, sit and walk for long periods at a time.
- Must be able to feel and touch.
- Must be able to climb/step up to 19 inches.
- Must be able to reach above shoulders.
- Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 110 lbs.
- Must be able to wear required PPE (protective clothing, steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts of machinery, hand power tools and sharp edges on material.
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation (in the electromagnetic fields around the welding equipment), and vibration from hand power tools.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
- May be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
