About the Job
The County of Riverside's Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) has a professional student internship opportunity that will support their Staff Development team with website projects, workflow processes and project management.

The internship opportunity is hybrid, working remotely and also in-person from the Moreno Valley office as needed. The work week will consist of approximately 40 hours per week with flexibility granted around school obligations. The selected candidate can anticipate an internship spanning three to six months in length.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Major assignments include, but are not limited to:
- Designing, building and maintaining a web page using the Microsoft SharePoint platform that will serve as an overall project management tool (training requests, room reservations, PPE fittings, etc.) for the Staff Development team in Riverside County DPSS.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) / Flow for the new Staff Development Project request page/tool.
- Reporting/connecting with project leads
- Determining user needs by analyzing technical requirements of each unit in Staff Development
- Requesting feedback from stakeholders and collaborators
- Testing online site functions with current standards, ensuring validity of data, and structuring site compatibility with browsers, devices and operating systems
- Creating back up files for local directories for recovery
- Editing, writing, and designing web page content
- Shadowing staff to determine current processes
- Connect with internal/external partners to determine appropriate development and deployment of the project request tool
- Adhering to design standards and specifications of a government agency training facility
- Facilitating meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and sharpening presentation skills
- Developing professional working relationships and connections
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MinimumCumulative Grade Point Average : 3.0GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .
Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university, in a Certificate, Bachelor's or Masters program during the entire duration of the internship or have recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Masters program. All recent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to one year (twelve months) from their graduation date. Graduation date is not to exceed twelve month maximum during the duration of the internship.
Areas of Study : Information Technology, Computer Science or similar, Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies or similar, Psychology, Sociology or other Behavioral Sciences, Certification(s) in Project Management, IT Support, Data Analytics, and/or Web Page Developing
Experience, Knowledge, Abilities :
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Forms)
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
- Experience in workflow/process design
- Knowledge of software engineering/programming skills to design, build and improve websites
- Understanding of user experience: building websites that are easy to understand, navigate and use
- Experience presenting information virtually and in person
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience building professional relationships
- Knowledge of the public sector/local government
- Experiencing working on team based projects and initiatives
