Job Title: Drill Bore Operator (OSP Experience)
Job Summary: The Drill Bore Operator with OSP experience is responsible for operating directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities, such as fiber optic cables, conduits, and other telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves working closely with the Outside Plant Supervisor, Locators, and Laborers to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directional Drilling: Operate directional boring rigs and locating equipment to drill variable-sized underground holes and pull back required conduits.
- Utility Location: Collaborate with the operator to locate existing utilities during the boring process to avoid damage.
- Site Preparation: Dig boring pits, set up drilling equipment, and prepare the site for drilling operations.
- Conduit Installation: Pull fiber through conduits, set hand holes, and ensure proper installation of underground utilities.
- Safety Compliance: Conduct daily inspections of drilling and potholing equipment, verify dig permits, and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Project Coordination: Work with the Outside Plant Supervisor and team to complete job requirements from start to finish, including backfilling, seeding, core drilling, and pot holing.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and legible field notes, take close-out pictures, and provide redlines for project documentation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Drill Bore Operator, specifically with OSP projects.
- Skills: Proficiency in operating directional drilling rigs and locating equipment. Strong understanding of utility location and safety procedures.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in directional drilling and safety training are preferred.
Work Environment:
- Field Work: Majority of the work is performed outdoors at various job sites.
- Team Collaboration: Frequent interaction with supervisors, locators, and laborers to ensure project success.
