Our Operations team is looking for a Driver to operate a light van or truck (non-CDL), sometimes with a 20' trailer, while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our fleet and shop. This role offers variety, as the driver doesn’t run on specific, monotonous routes daily, there is ever changing scenery as they pick up and deliver a wide range of materials. A typical day will be split between deliveries, pickups, and various shop tasks. You'll also work closely with the Operations Technician, providing plenty of opportunities to learn about shop, tool, and equipment maintenance, repairs, and more.
Our Operations team is dedicated to ensuring that our vendors, partners, and customers are taken care of, always. This role requires someone who can see the bigger picture, is adaptable, has a strong work ethic, professionalism, and excellent customer service skills. A can-do attitude and a personal sense of responsibility to get the job done right are essential. While we're looking for someone interested in a long-term position, there will be opportunities for cross-training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be comfortable driving a box van or truck up to 26' with a lift gate and hold a current driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift and operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts, is required. Must be able to read a tape measure. We're looking for someone detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a problem-solver who takes accountability and communicates proactively. Knowledge of the Portland metro area is a plus, along with familiarity with materials such as plywood, MDF, CDX, Plexiglas, lumber, and various types of hardware and fasteners.
DUTIES
Predominantly, safe driving, following applicable laws, preparing delivery loads, loading unloading, establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers, and ensuring cleanliness and upkeep of vehicles and the shop. The Operations Team is at the forefront of maintaining building safety and security; you’ll help keep an eye out for hazards and help to ensure lock up protocols.
Adaptability is key to success in this role, as it involves splitting time between driving and supporting various operational tasks. As a driver, you’ll navigate different routes and handle diverse deliveries, while the rest of your time will be spent assisting with shop duties, equipment maintenance, and other operational responsibilities. The ability to switch gears quickly, manage changing priorities, and stay organized in both roles is essential. If you’re someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys variety in your day, this role will offer a good balance of structure and flexibility.
As in traditional manufacturing environments, you may be exposed to a high noise level for extended periods of time, related to equipment or production, but it is within OSHA limits and PPE is provided. You will need to perform physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving and climbing. You must have the ability to access all areas of the warehouse. You will have slight exposure, at levels allowed by OSHA, to chemical substances and dust/pollen.
The schedule is 7:00am – 3:30pm, but we require some flexibility with one's time as there are or earlier or later pickups/deliveries and sometimes the shop hours are different from time to time. Infrequently, there is mandatory Saturday work when we have tight deadlines and need all hands on deck. When not driving, you will work wherever needed in the shop, learning new skills or honing existing ones. You must be dependable, reliable and punctual, which means on time and at work every day.
The strength of our company is our employees, their experience, and their commitment to quality. We look forward to hearing about your recent driving experience. Please send an intro and resume. Let’s talk!
