Position Summary |
The driver is responsible for transporting and unloading orders over designated routes as well as the safe and efficient operation of all equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
- Deliver orders in a timely and accurate manner
- Properly maintain delivery truck
- Deliver all material correctly with a positive attitude
- Consistently present and ready to begin work activities at start of shift; provides required notice for unexpected absences.
- Verifies strict adherence to company and governmental safety policies related to licensing and operation of vehicles.
- Ensures appropriate merchandise to be delivered is pulled from inventory and packaged properly for shipment.
- Verifies delivery route and various stops on a daily basis with management.
- Delivers merchandise to customers using route based on efficient use of time, gasoline, and customer priority.
- Drives in a careful and skilled manner so cargo and vehicle are protected against damage, securing load before leaving building.
- Assists in unloading truck at each stop on route.
- Verifies that merchandise being unloaded is correct and accounted for via shipping documents.
- Performs daily detailed inspection of truck to ensure general maintenance and safety of vehicle. Notifies supervisor of all problems.
- Delivers truck for maintenance such as oil change, lube job, tire repair and waits for vehicle if requested by warehouse manager.
- Cleans vehicle’s exterior and interior at least once a month.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of error reports for over/under customer shipments.
- Maintains a daily fuel and oil use log using prescribed forms and procedures.
- Assist in any and all warehouse duties on an as-needed basis
- Assist in any other duties deemed necessary by Management
Knowledge and Skills |
To accomplish the functions and responsibilities the following skill sets must be present:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Valid Driver’s License with approved motor vehicle report (CDL not required)
- 1-3 years driving experience
- Knowledge of pulling trailers, bumper pulls, and gooseneck trailers
- Ability to drive a truck over 26’ long
- Ability to follow road map or navigation system
- Ability to receive and ship product accurately
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to operate various warehouse equipment such as forklift, cherry picker, pallet jack, pallet wrap machine, wire cutter, etc.
Physical Demands |
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, or carry; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance or stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 lbs. and up to 25 lbs. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material.

Work Environment |
Requirements for this position are in a truck or warehouse environment with temperature dependent on season. Receiving hours vary to meet our customers’ demands, routes are typically 8 hours with various starting times from 4am – 7am.
