GENERAL DESCRIPTION- UNION POSITION
Central City Integrated Health is committed to enabling every patient in our community to thrive by building a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Driver is responsible for shuttling patients to and from various community organizations, treatment providers, judicial hearings and other locations identified by the treatment team according to agency policy/procedures. The Driver must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. Drivers are responsible for maintaining a safe environment within company vehicles by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies as they arise.

- Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization professionally.
- Greets patients, family members and community partners in a pleasant and courteous manner.
- Assists with helping clients in and out of the vehicle.
- Completes pre-trip safety inspections of assigned vehicle(s) each day by testing brakes, tires, and other components prior to the start of driving each day.
- Completes post-trip safety inspections of assigned vehicle(s) at the end of each day.
- Ensures the cleanliness of company vehicles by ensuring that passengers do not smoke or consume food or drinks, and that vehicle(s) remain clear of debris.
- Transports patients according to the assigned roster and route indicated in the Transportation Module of the Electronic Medical Record; drivers may not, under any circumstances, utilize company vehicles for personal use.
- Assists the Director of Facilities & Fleet with preventive maintenance of facilities and fleet vehicles.
- Maintains accurate fuel and mileage records and attendance logs for all routes.
- Notifies Leader immediately of any accidents involving agency vehicles.
- Participates in a multidisciplinary care team by reporting observed concerns, complaints, incidents, or unusual behavior expressed by patient(s) and/or family member(s).
- Maintains a commitment to the achievement of quality health care services through good communication and by maintaining patient rights, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
- All other duties as assigned by Leader
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Current Michigan Chauffeur’s Driver’s License required
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to State of Michigan driving laws, evidenced by maintaining an insurable driving record in accordance with CCIH commercial auto insurance carrier required
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience driving a limousine, cab, passenger bus, rideshare, patients or similar transportation mode required
- Experience working with patients exhibiting severe and persistent mental illness preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and others involved in the delivery of service to patients
- Must be comfortable with patient transport; familiarity with the Detroit Metro area preferred
- Must maintain confidentiality relating to treatment in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
