Summary:
Our team is seeking a multi-faceted Drone Surveying and 3D Modeling Specialist with a strong background in software development to support our construction survey operations. This role is central to conducting drone inspections, creating precise 3D models, and enhancing or developing in-house software tools to optimize data processing and model hosting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of drone technology, 3D modeling, and software development principles, particularly as they apply to the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Pilot drones to capture detailed images and data for surveying construction sites and architectural projects.
Transform aerial data into highly accurate 3D models using advanced processing techniques.
Ensure 3D models are accurate and hosted on platforms for easy access and manipulation by project stakeholders.
Develop, enhance, and maintain in-house software tools and applications to streamline the surveying and modeling processes.
Write and debug code for various aspects of the platform, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
Work with cross-functional teams to understand needs and deliver software solutions that aid in data interpretation and decision-making.
Conduct ongoing testing and improvement of software tools, incorporating feedback from users to enhance functionality.
Provide technical support and training for software and tools developed in-house.
Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience in UAV operation, with a strong portfolio of survey work that has utilized drones.
Advanced skills in 3D modeling and proficiency in relevant software (such as CAD, GIS, photogrammetry software).
Experience in software development, with a solid grasp of programming languages relevant to the field (e.g., Python, C++, JavaScript).
Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience with software development tools (e.g., Git, JIRA).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
FAA Part 107 certification or equivalent for commercial drone operations is mandatory.
Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying data discrepancies.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Surveying Engineering, or similar.
Experience with cloud-based platforms and services (AWS, Azure, etc.) for deploying and managing applications.
Knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques as they pertain to image recognition and data analysis.
Proven ability to document and explain code in a clear and concise manner.
