The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services.

The Mission Neighborhood Resource Center (MNRC) was founded in 2002 as a community response to the neighborhood's growing homeless population, the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center advocates for housing and resources to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and economic health of homeless residents in the 16th street corridor and surrounding Mission neighborhood. MNRC employs a service model based on harm-reduction principles and practices that focus on community building, basic human needs, and integrated health services for a diverse population as they move toward greater stability and well-being.
We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Drop-In Supervisor - Homeless Center role. This position reports to the Program Director of the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center and is a Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt role with a starting hourly wage of $29.00 to $33.25 with full benefits.
Primary Objective:
The Drop-In Services Supervisor supports the overall operations of our Drop-In Services and integration with our Primary Care Clinic and Community Programs. The Drop-In Services Supervisor supports day-to-day operations of Drop-In center activities and Drop-In services team in the afternoon, once a month on Men’s Saturday, and serves as point of contact in the absence of the Drop-In Services Manager. This position supervises janitorial staff and is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the facility. They also supervise the Community Programs Advocate and are responsible for conducting program planning, reporting, and evaluation of all Community Program activities which include our internship program and group activities such as Men’s Saturday, support groups, holiday events, and community meetings. This position also leads outreach and education efforts in the surrounding community to increase awareness and use of our medical and behavioral health services.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Supports the oversight of the day-to-day operations of drop-in center services which are available to community members Mondays through Fridays from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 7 am to 12 pm. Works in the drop-in area when Drop-In Services Manager is unavailable (generally in the afternoon and evenings as well as some Saturday mornings) to assure adequate staff support and foster a welcoming, harm-reduction environment for community members.
- Recruits, hires, trains, mentors, and supervises Community Programs and Janitorial staff. Holds regular staff meetings and provides individual supervision. Works collaboratively with partner organizations and coordinates volunteers as needed.
- Oversees all community-building, education, and training programs of MNRC including Ladies Night, Capp Street Internship, group activities, support groups, holiday events, and community meetings. Responsible for program planning, reporting, and evaluation. Encourages active participation of community members in all aspects of program activities including the Clinic.
- Conducts outreach to the surrounding community to educate homeless individuals living both on the street and in Single Room Occupancy hotels about our services and promotes community members that are out-of-care that they enroll in our medical and behavioral health clinic.
- Responsible for ordering, delivery and pick-up, and stocking program and facility supplies. Seeks and coordinates the donation of program supplies when appropriate.
- Ensures the safety of staff, community members, and neighbors by educating community members about and enforcing Community Rules including consequences for violations. Ensures proper documentation of incidents and enters suspensions in MNRC Suspensions database. Responsible for upholding re-entry plan discussions in clinical coordination meetings and re-entry protocol.
- Attends relevant meetings and trainings. Represents MNRC at community meetings, events, conferences, and other activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual English-Spanish required.
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experience leading teams for at least 2 years required, one-year supervisory experience preferred.
- One year of social service experience working with communities of color or immigrant communities and individuals who are homeless, actively using drugs, or have severe mental and physical disabilities.
- Working knowledge of harm reduction principles preferred.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to address conflict by using conflict prevention, de-escalation, and resolution techniques.
- Ability to work professionally and ethically in a multi-cultural team setting, including ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of MS Office and ability to use the internet.
- As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to provide documentation of current immunizations, including COVID-19 and TB test results valid within the last two (2) years must be submitted before the start date.
