POSITION SUMMARY:
Part time position under the direction of the Aquatics Program and Training Manager, the Dryland Swim Instructor will train swimmers of all abilities to improve their strength, endurance and overall performance in water through dryland training. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of swimming mechanics, calisthenics exercise routines and injury prevention techniques. This role requires a passion for coaching and the ability to inspire and guide swimmers to achieve their fitness goals.

PAY RANGE:
$25.00/hour - $37.25/hour
REPORTS TO:
Aquatics Program & Training Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop and implement dryland training programs tailored to swimmers of various ages and skill levels.
Lead group training sessions of 20+ swimmers, demonstrating proper technique of exercises and guiding swimmers to perform them correctly to avoid injury.
Educate swimmers on the importance of dryland training and how it benefits their performance.
Ensure that all exercises are performed safely and that the training environment and equipment is clean and in good condition.
Provide modifications of exercises to accommodate all swimmers fitness abilities.
Maintain attendance records.
Maintain required certifications.
Actively participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
Provide clear, professional and timely communication to supervisor with concerns pertaining to your classes, including whenever there is a schedule change.
Enforce and follow all policies and procedures for members and staff of the YMCA.
Act as a positive role model and a positive voice for the YMCA of Greenwich.
The instructor should be enthusiastic and possess the ability to establish a welcoming and enjoyable class atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical Education or related field preferred.
Certified Group Exercise Instructor or equivalent.
Prior experience teaching group fitness and working with children

Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
Attend a minimum of 2 in house training sessions offered by the YMCA of Greenwich (C.P.R. and First Aid reviews are mandatory and count as one training session).
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Hours: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on class schedules and wellness center needs.
Environment: Professional Wellness Center setting with appropriate flooring, mirrors, exercise equipment and sound equipment.

Salary is competitive dependent upon experience.
