Job Description

At Bello Machre, our Meaningful Day Direct Support Professional provides loving care and support for people with developmental disabilities in the community throughout Carroll County.  This program is 100% community based and focuses on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities obtaining and maintaining employment.  This person also helps obtain and access appropriate social, recreational, and educational services.

This is a FULL-TIME position. Due to the nature of our program, the hours may be weekdays and/or weekends. 

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding support and services for people with developmental disabilities, enabling them to participate as fully as they wish in all aspects of community life
• Assure that job tasks assigned to individuals both on and off site are completed to the employers’ standards. 
• Provide on-site support, coaching and assessment of the individual’s ability to meet the expectations of the employer and position. 
• Advocate for the individual to ensure their work environment is providing the support and accommodation needed for success. 
• Teach self-advocacy; providing tools necessary for the individual to navigate workplace challenges independently when possible.
• Helps individuals to identify employment goals

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must have a current driver’s license with no more than 5 points
• Must have at least one year of experience in the human services field
• Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, individuals, and families
• Must be able to teach skills, provide support, and build on each individual’s strengths and abilities
