About the Job
Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and research. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IAssists Project Managers with design, computer operations, plan preparation, plan updates, project development reports, survey requests and correspondence.Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IIIn addition to the duties listed abovePerforms complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Develops and reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans, dates, reviews, monitors, and reviews requests for changes to plans, manuals and standard sheets.Transportation Engineer IIIIn addition to the duties listed abovePerforms advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Coordinates, leads, and monitors assigned projects/plans and allocates resources to meet deadlines.Trains engineering staff.Transportation Engineer IVAnalyzes and assists in the resolution of contract problems construction issues, RFI's, and/or design related issuesEvaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible.Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.Designs highly complex bridge projects and performs specialized design.Transportation Engineer VIn addition to the duties listed aboveServes as lead worker, leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others and serves as a project/team lead for advanced and highly complex projects.
