Overview: The Archdiocese of New York partners with the NYC DOE to offer Prek For All and 3K For All in over 30 schools in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. We believe that high-quality learning experiences anchored in a playful approach to focused learning will provide the best foundation for future learning for the young children and families we serve. Our programs are located in our elementary school buildings and as such are part of our greater school community that is committed to offering a safe, structured and personalized learning environment for all of the students entrusted to our care.
The Office of Early Childhood of the Archdiocese of New York seeks qualified social workers to provide support with family engagement and classroom interventions to a cohort of schools that provide Prek for All and/or 3K for All programs. The ideal candidate is a social work professional with experience working with families and programs who provide educational services to three and four-year old children. This individual will coordinate with school leaders, teachers and members of the Archdiocesan and Department of Education support teams. As skilled professional who sets the standard in delivering social emotional support to the students we serve, you will provide guidance and training to teachers through regular planning, modeling, and feedback.
To join our team, you should have:
- Experience working in a school setting
- Knowledge in special education and the NYC CPSE evaluation process
- Knowledge of positive behavior management practices and classroom intervention strategies
- Experience with creating a student support plan
- Familiarity with a wide range of family engagement practices
- Strong problem solving and crisis management skills
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
- Experience with running workshops related to social/emotional skill development in young children
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Our team members must have:
- Masters in Social Work or related counseling field from an accredited Higher Education Program
- Employment experience or field placement in an early childhood or elementary school setting
- Spanish language proficiency (preferred)
- The ability to travel to schools and offices within the Catholic School Region Staten Island
- Knowledge of Catholic school culture
- A referral from a current supervisor and two other references
Salary range $68,000 - $72,000, Comprehensive benefits package included for full time position. We are also open to Part-time and School year arrangements.
