Kindergarten Teacher Special Education - TLC - The Treatment and Learning Centers, Inc.

The Katherine Thomas School has an open position for a Kindergarten - 1st grade STRIDE special education teacher to begin with the 2024/2025 school year. KTS services students with language, learning, and sensory motor disabilities and moderate to high functioning autism. STRIDE is a program for students who exhibit significant challenges with engagement, attention, regulation, group process and social interactions that require more intensive support to succeed academically and socially. This is a Full-Time 11-month position, working hours: 8:30am-4:15pm M-F. MUST hold a Bachelor's Degree! EOE

Responsibilities of the teacher include:

• Develop instruction following the Maryland State Curriculum providing necessary accommodation to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Meet the individual’s student’s needs by analyzing the student’s developmental profile
• Write and implement IEPs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Create partnerships with parents and the school community
• Supervise teacher assistants and work collaboratively with team members
• Utilize technology and/or AAC devices to assist students in accessing curriculum and communication

Required Experience:

Requirements of the teacher:

• MUST have a Bachelors Degree (Required)
• Must have a Maryland Special Education Teaching Certificate in early childhood-K-3rd (Required) at the time of hire or be eligible to obtain it upon hire
• Experience with students on the Autism spectrum preferred
