About the Department:
The George Mason University Child Development Center provides early care and education through an emergent, play-based preschool program. We are committed to prioritizing the healthy development of each individual student within an environment that emphasizes whole food nutrition, social-emotional skills, and nature-based play. Our program celebrates the diverse cultures, languages, ethnicities, and family structures of our community.
About the Position:
We have multiple part-time positions available in Twos, Preschool, and Pre-K. Applicants must be able to work until 6 p.m. Our program offers play-based, NAEYC accredited educational experiences for children ages 2-5 years of age. We prioritize social-emotional development in support of all areas of growth through open-ended child-centered exploration, both indoors and outdoors.
Responsibilities:
This position will report to the Director of the Child Development Center (CDC). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Supports daily care and education of each child in accordance with Mason's CDC philosophy and values, as well as all licensing guidelines and NAEYC criteria;
- Communicates directly with parents to establish and maintain family partnerships in the best interest of each child; and
- Helps maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean, organized, developmentally appropriate and engaging with the guidance of Lead and Assistant Teachers.
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Experience working in a licensed childcare facility or school;
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Some coursework in early childhood education or child development preferred; and
- Background check clearance and TB risk assessment.
