Kids On The Move, Inc. (KOTM) is a nonprofit organization located in Orem, UT. KOTM supports the development of young children and families by "empowering families, one child at a time." KOTM provides services through five main programs: Early Intervention, Early Head Start, Child Care, Respite Care and KOTM's Autism Center.
KOTM is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager in the Early Head Start (EHS) department who will support the Kitchen Manager in menu planning, grocery shopping, kitchen organization, sanitation; as well as the preparation and cooking of meals and snacks. This individual will also be responsible for fully and effectively implementing the CACFP Food Reimbursement program.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years experience working with food
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards as they pertain to the food program
- Knowledge of CACFP regulations
- Follow food safety/kitchen licensure requirements
- Valid Food Handler Permit
- Serve Safe Certification (this must be kept current at all times)
- Four plus (4+) years experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred
Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals for all EHS Wednesday night activities, as well as help with shopping for EHS Family Activities as requested
- Keep up-to-date information on all children's food allergies, working with teachers and program staff to ensure accurate information from parents
- Shop for all food items and meal ingredients, strictly following scheduled and approved menu
- Run the CACFP Food Reimbursement program, including all documentation of food purchases, menu planning, meal service tracking, and all paperwork involved
- Work with Health Service Manager to train direct service staff on CACFP policies, assist with CACFP reimbursement, and health department review
- Keep the kitchen, including storage and work space, clean and organized
- Attend KOTM All Staff meetings
- Attend EHS program meetings, as required
- Prepare meals and snacks for all programs when needed
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Repeated bending, kneeling and stooping
- Finger/wrist movement for prolonged periods of time
- Must possess the ability to read, write and count in English
- Work is predominately in the kitchen with typical kitchen environmental factors
- May be required to work long and/or irregular hours
- Must have accessibility to a reliable vehicle, have a current driver's license, and auto insurance that meets at least Utah State minimum requirements.
