The eBilling Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s eBilling team, including personnel management, workflow coordination, and team growth and development. The eBilling Manager acts as an information and quality control manager for the group. The successful candidate is highly knowledgeable about legal eBilling, billing and accounting processes and has a broad understanding of BillBlast, eBilling Hub, Aderant and the various eBilling platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides "holistic" updates about eBbilling to Management.
Reviews and/or prepares daily, weekly, or monthly reports as required.
Administers BillBlast and eBilling vendor websites.
Manages new client eBilling implementations, client transitions to new platforms, matter setups, timekeeper approvals, budgets, and appeals.
Reviews and monitors eBilling transactions and activities to ensure efficiency, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to client and firm policies.
Develops strategies and tactics to optimize workflow.
Collaborates with other department leaders to address eBilling and billing inefficiencies.
Addresses and responds to inquiries about eBilling, providing a high level of customer service.
Acts as a liaison and escalation point between the Legal team, eBilling team and other Troutman divisions.
Manages a team of approximately 10 eBilling specialists
Identifies areas of opportunity for individual team member’s development
Works with leadership to train and develop team members
Maintains team expectations to ensure that they are understood by each team member and monitors them for compliance
Utilizes technology resources to maximize efficiency while maintaining the highest level of professionalism
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, managing across multiple needs and initiatives.
Highly knowledgeable in operational strategies/business models for eBilling
Highly knowledgeable in eBilling application functionality/capabilities
Understands Aderant, Elite, or 3E software systems.
Familiarity with Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDES) billing formats
Ability to lead a team, focusing on personnel and process improvement.
Exercises considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both attorneys and staff
Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
Capable of analyzing complex problems and recommending and/or implementing solutions
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Education and/or Experience:
B.A. or B.S. degree preferred; any combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the core responsibilities of the role may be considered
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive eBilling experience with supervisory responsibilities
Highly skilled team manager with a track record of improved performance
Experience in a law firm required
