Echo Cardiac Sonographer - Per Diem

The Cardiac Sonographer performs advanced cardiac ultrasounds, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress tests, following clinical protocols. They analyze patient history to identify examination purposes, frame clinical questions, and expand the examination as needed to provide comprehensive diagnostic information.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, making necessary measurements and identifying cardiac abnormalities, adapting techniques as needed.
- Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies and transesophageal studies, calculating appropriate measurements.
- Review patient history, utilize imaging protocols, enter patient demographics, position patients correctly, obtain measurements, transfer studies, and provide preliminary interpretations for cardiologists.
- Notify cardiologists of urgent pathologies observed during cardiovascular exams.
- Maintain and clean Echocardiography Lab equipment, follow infection control and other guidelines, and report malfunctions.
- Act as a resource for staff, physicians, and students, assist with IAC accreditation, implement new protocols, and ensure adherence to echocardiography standards.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education - Essential: High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program - New grads welcome
- Licensure - Certification from ARDMS or CCI is required within six months of date of hire required. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) via the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) of Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
- Experience - One year of experience in a certified echocardiography laboratory preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods while performing ultrasound studies. Ability to push ultrasound equipment throughout hospital for bedside testing.
- Bedside, Unit Patients or Procedure patients.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Onsite - CMC or CMA
Pay Range Disclosure:
- $38.56 to $57.79 per hour
