Job Summary of the Echo Technologist
According to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the Echo Sonographer is responsible for the performance of non-invasive cardiovascular procedures of adult echocardiography. This position works closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies while also promoting optimal unit operations. The Echo Sonographer adheres to the customer service standards while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment. Responsibilities of the Echo Technologist
- Direct and indirect patient care, diagnostic tests that include Adult Echocardiogram, TEE’s and Pharmacologic/Exercise Cardiac Stress Testing.
- Maintain professional standards and seek professional growth.
- Provide care to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatrics.
- Reflect the company’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct.
- Execute SDH Service Excellence standards in every interaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participate in providing continuous echocardiography service by taking call, responding to pages within 10 minutes, and arriving within 30 minutes of STAT notification. We require overnight call one weekend per month.
- Participate in maintaining a safe environment.
- Participate in unit activities and meet educational requirements.
Qualifications of the Echo Technologist
EDUCATION:
- Associate Degree
- Successful completion of an accredited cardiac sonography program
EXPERIENCE:
- One year minimum experience as a Sonographer or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing all aspects of adult/pediatric echocardiography procedures
- Demonstrated ability to precept new employees and employees not meeting expectations
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
- Preferred: Registered Vascular Technologist
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
