Title: ECHO TECH / CARDIOVASCULAR
Location: near Oxford, North Caroliona
Are you considering a career change? Looking for a smaller community(25K population), that offers a low cost of living(18% lower than US average) and plenty of activities in the area but is within an hour of a large city. If so, an opportunity to work with an integrated health care system based in Central North Carolina is looking for someone to join their team. The system is a for-profit and has over 300 physicians and multiple outpatient care centers throughout the area.
The system is the largest provider in a six county region and a primary referral center. It offers a higher level of service than what is typically found in a community of its size including open-heart surgery, trauma care, a Level II neonatal intermediate care unit, neurosurgery and comprehensive cancer services. SUMMARY:
The Echo Sonographer performs the daily clinical operations and a wide variety of technical procedures including, but not limited to, adult and pediatric echo, stress echo, contrast imaging, agitated saline studies, and Holter analysis. Enters exam data into CPACs system, ensures completeness of exam, and prepares exam for interpretation. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.
SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Current or very recent Interventional/Surgical experience preferred, along with knowledge of Siemens, OEC equipment & Medtronic O-arm
-· Performs echocardiography on adults and pediatric patients in accordance with lab protocols and standard practices.
· Reviews inpatient requisitions and prioritizes patient list in order of severity of illness, special procedures, special requests and equipment availability; revises patient schedule as new procedures are requested and circumstances change.
· Performs required quality control checks.
· Assures the procurement, storage and routing of supplies for room operation.
· Ensures reusable instruments are maintained and disinfected as required.
· Reviews patient information and orders at the time of the procedure. Confirms type of exam and appropriate diagnosis; requests clarification of order if necessary; determines interpreting physician.
· Downloads examination images and data into PACs system; enters findings into PACs system upon completion of exam.
· Mentors and evaluates ultrasound students as required.
· Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines.
· Knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound principles, concepts and methodology sufficient to perform high quality diagnostic studies.
· Ability to identify which images to include, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas.
· Ability to tailor the scope of an exam by adding additional image as dictated by pathology.
· Knowledge of cardiac cross-sectional anatomy and pathophysiology.
· Knowledge of m-mode, doppler and color flow characteristics.
· Ability to recognize cardiac structures viewed from various angles.
· Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation sufficient to identify and eliminate artifact and optimize images.
· Ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot cardiovascular equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or GED equivalency
Graduate of CAAHEP approved school of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience.
Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR certification within one year of hire date.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
The range is between $28.00hr-$44.00, plus a full benefit package.
$10,000.00 Sign-on Bonus, plus $5,000 relocation assistance
