POSITION SUMMARY
The Echocardiogram Technologist uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound), and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment, to produce images. These procedures require specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a geriatric patient population. Perform echocardiogram procedures for diagnostic purposes. Follow established requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. Additionally, the Echocardiogram Technologist adheres to policies and procedures. Demonstrates competency and skills to serve a diverse geriatric population.
What you"ll do
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure patient information remains secure and confidential.
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following Sage Health policy and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Prepares for examinations by checking equipment, taking inventory of supplies, replenishing stock as needed, reviewing physician orders and patient schedules, readying recording equipment and inputting patient information.
Manages patient stress by patiently explaining exam procedures, answering questions and providing ambulatory assistance.
Positions patients, applies medical gels and electrodes, connects and adjusts equipment and verifies wave signals.
Enters test data and patient information into computer to maintain records of test results.
Maintains and calibrates equipment to ensure accuracy of results.
Produces high-quality imaging by accurately positioning transducer, monitoring display, listening to signals, adjusting beam strength and focus, detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities, and recording images.
Records examination details by printing data and graphics, producing measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity and comparing measurements to established norms.
Monitors the patient's physical condition during the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to clinical staff, supervisor and/or physicians.
Observes all safety policies and protocols for patient protection.
Keeps job-related knowledge up to date by taking advantage of educational opportunities, networking, reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations.
Accepts ownership for completing dynamic requests and seeks opportunities to add value to professional achievements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years of experience.
Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers or Ultrasound sonographers.
ARDMS registered in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS) or CCI Echocardiography (RCS)
Experience working with an electronic health record.
3-5 years" experience working in a hospital or other medical facility.
Must be willing to travel to centers within the market. A car allowance will be provided!
Certification Basic Life Support
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Must be organized and attentive to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities.

Able to take and follow through with assigned tasks and accountability.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree or higher
Experienced working in medically underserved/culturally diverse communities
Bilingual Spanish and English
