About the Job
Join our Head Start team! The Education Coach works with site teams to support them in effectively developing classroom environments using anti-bias curriculum and planning educational experiences for children ages 0 to 5. The person in this position will model, consult, and provide guidance and resources to the classroom staffing the areas of classroom management, individualization, lesson planning, and curriculum implementation.
This is a Part Time position, working 20-29 hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
- Three years of experience working in preschool classrooms, with two years of experience in Head Start preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with adults in a helping or teaching capacity and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
- Driver Qualification Status required for this position. Valid Driver License and insured vehicle available for use on the job with satisfactory drive record for the past 3 years required.
- Registration with the Office of Child Care Division's Central Background Registry.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
- Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) reliability certification or ability to obtain.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in the use of computers and related information technologies.
- Effective communication skills with individuals and groups.
- Ability to follow through on instructions, both written and oral.

Practice Based Coaching
- In consultation with the Education Manager, Education Specialist, and Regional Team Resource Specialists, provides mentoring, coaching, guidance and direction for Teachers and Teacher Assistants in the performance of their responsibilities in the classroom and on home visits.
Education Component Support
- Assists teaching teams with creating developmentally appropriate and culturally inclusive learning environments, including setting up new classrooms.
- Reviews lesson plans and daily classroom activities.
- Supports staff in appropriate usage of classroom environment space and equipment.
- Works with Education Manager to conduct CLASS and other classroom observations. Ensures teaching teams are implementing lesson plans and curriculum, and are creating warm, nurturing, inclusive environments that encourage children's learning. Debriefs with staff. Provides information to Regional Team Resource Specialists and Education Manager.
- Works with Education Manager and Inclusion & Support Specialist to assist teaching teams in the implementation of support plans created for children.
- Participates in Head Start and Kindergarten Transition meetings as needed to help teachers and participates in organizational process as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory duties in this position.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

- Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.

- Handles situations that fall outside of Agency policies and guidelines under the direction of a supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Mostly indoor classroom and office work environment.
- Frequent outdoor supervision of children and monitoring pick up/drop off.
- Working with coworkers/clients over the phone and in-person.
- Occasional noise and distractions in work spaces.
- Occasional remote work as approved by supervisor.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
