About Our Headstart Centers
Upbring Head Start Preschool provides a safe, inclusive place to learn, grow and thrive. The families receive support and services to complement the child’s education as the kindergarten transition nears.
What Education Coordinator's Do
The Education Coordinator is responsible for ensuring successful and high-quality Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms throughout the Head Start program area through planning, leadership, and collaboration with education coaches.

Work Standards
- Directly supervises Education Coaches and works in partnership with Center Directors and Family Services Coordinators collaboratively towards program success
- Plans and implements comprehensive, differentiated, and sequential professional development for Education Coaches
- Collaborates with Program Trainer to Plan and oversee on-boarding of Education Coaches
- Continuously oversees regional program data regarding educational content
- Uses data to develop school readiness program goals and initiatives for the classroom
- Periodically review classroom inventory and needs to ensure developmentally appropriate materials
- Approves time, absences, and mileage for direct reports
- Staff must not use/impose corporal punishment or other forms of child maltreatment as a method to discipline children
- Comply with the company code of conduct and other applicable regulations and requirements, including Licensing Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Upbring policies, and procedures, Child Care Minimum Standards, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Always ensure the health and safety of each child in care, and support the overall well-being of children
- Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Policy
- Ensure and implement CLASS Methodology
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Communication
- Address and communicate all concerns related to child health and safety
- Communicates with Regional Director and peer group on classroom status, updates and communicates any concerns regarding the education coach team
- Report to Regional Director all CLASS data, teacher tiering, educational timeline requirements, and any education staffing’s attended
Fiscal Management
- Ensures fiscal management by monitoring and approving educational expenditures of the education coaches and classroom/lesson plan materials purchased and submitting purchase request and purchase orders to Area Administrative Assistance

Teamwork
- Guide program staff in a collaborative effort to promote a positive nurturing environment embodying all Upbring’s Core Values Oversees work with education coaches, program leadership and teachers to ensure full implementation of all aspects of the school readiness goals, record and data keeping, reporting, and ongoing monitoring
- Provides individual and group support for education coaches and teachers in implementing educational initiatives
- Ensures education coaches work with teachers, center leadership, ISD teachers, and ISD leadership with implementation of early learning curriculum
- Collaborates and coordinates with peer group, chain of support and education coaches, on initiatives to ensure timely and appropriate support for children, including children with atypical needs, as well as ensuring parent education and outreach activities are consistent with education goals and activities
- Consistently contributes and collaborates to professional excellence through productive leadership and participation in leadership team meetings and external community relationships
- Collaborate, create, and implement training to support education coach on educational models and practice base coaching
- Conducts meetings with education coaches and area ISD partnerships alongside Regional Directors and Director of Partnerships
- Work as part of the team and always show professionalism by modeling Upbring Core Values and demonstrating a positive attitude and positive working relationships, while maintaining strong ethical boundaries

Building Relationships
- Directly communicates with ISD partnerships and Director of Partnerships
- Communicate with ISD partners on a regular basis alongside the Director of Partnerships to build strong community relationships
- Ensures education coaches work with special programs, mental health, and teachers to identify children with disabilities through the screening and referral process
- Work closely with the peer group, chain of support, and Head Start staff to maintain focus on education (learning outcomes) and aligning instructional strategies with program goals, ELOFT and school readiness goals that meet the needs of the students and families
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with classroom teachers, administrative staff, children, and parents to ensure the children are receiving a quality learning experience
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with vendors, program and center funders, and the business community
- Actively participate in exhibiting cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff, and the community
Developing & Encouraging Others
- Coach and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals and achieve operational excellence.
- Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings
- Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, on-going, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives
- Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring
- Work in collaboration with leadership and the Organizational Development and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff development
- Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staff
- Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods
Education Coordinator Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
- 1 years’ experience supervising and coaching teachers and education leaders; experience with early childhood education and special education strongly preferred
- 2 years’ experience teaching in an early childhood program
- CLASS™ (Classroom Assessment Scoring System™) trained and certified per Head Start guidance or ability to become trained and certified within 6 months of hire
- T-TESS Certificate or ability to become trained and certified within 8 months of hire
Education Coordinator Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Bilingual education expertise
- Texas Teaching Certificate EC-4 and Early Childhood Endorsement
- Background in Special Education/Inclusion
- Prior Head Start / Early Head Start experience
- Experience with Head Start approved curriculums, monitoring and assessment tools
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for an Education Coordinator
- Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
- Current Texas Driver’s License and auto insurance in good standing
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related programs
