Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design is currently looking for a Project Manager to join our Education/Architecture practice in any of our Upstate NY offices!
Our team of talented and creative architects work closely as trusted partners with our clients throughout the design process to realize a jointly conceived vision. We offer a full range of services from preliminary planning and feasibility studies through final design and construction inspection for both full build-out, renovations and adaptive reuse projects. Our markets include commercial development, warehousing, pre K-12 and higher education, science and technology, municipal and public works agencies, offices and corporate facilities, and retail and food.
Responsibilities:• Takes on full responsibility for managing all aspects of projects to ensure efficient execution within scope and budget.
• Collaborates with colleagues to promote an inter-disciplinary and collaborative design culture
• Manages project teams, fostering collaboration, demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction which inspires performance, ideas and successful project delivery.
• Participates in developing project scope and fee budgeting during the marketing period and contract development process.
• Provides effective communication of project information to and from clients and project team through meetings/minutes/up-date memos.
• Responsible for managing project using the BST Project Management system; completes work plans in BST; including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, etc.,
• Works with Project Architect(s) to resolve potential conflicts in schedule due to the changes in various projects.
• Responsible for meeting or exceeding the financial goals established for the project and providing timely and appropriate information to Accounting to initiate invoicing
• Has direct contact responsibility with clients and associated consultants, to ensure timely collections and management of delinquent accounts receivables
• Communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure effective communication.
• Monitors construction administration during the construction phase
• Understands and responds to technical implications and design decisions.
• Participates in Business Development - from marketing opportunities to developing successful client relationships for continuing business.
• Considers risk management by monitoring client issues and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability.
• Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
• May assign tasks to and oversee the work of design/production staff ; Coordinates staffing resources with Practice, Geographic and Regional Discipline Leaders.
• Promotes the office culture and studio mentorship within the office.
• Considers risk management by monitoring client issues and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability
• Completely integrates the design and technical aspects of a project
• Initiates, documents and maintains project setup, including contract review, project process and filing procedures, work authorizations and assisting accounting in timely distribution of invoices
• Mid to senior-level architect with 10+ years of experience serving governmental clients on civic and public works facilities
• Has familiarity working with Education clients as well NY State Education Department (NY SED), Dormitory Authority of the State of NY (DASNY), State University of New York (SUNY) schools and/or State University Construction Fund (SUFC) projects.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture or equivalent work experience as required to maintain licensed architect status
• Architecture Licensure Required
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
• Must have the ability to be client facing with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong business acumen, technical knowledge, coordination skills and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client is essential.
• Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Versed in developing qualifications and fee proposals
• Experience with or strong interest in business development activities
• Project management experience preferred in planning and executing design/construction projects
• Willing to travel on occasion to client sites and meetings, and conferences
• Active in the community and/or active on a Board of Directors/Trustees
