GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The electrical validation engineer will develop validation test designs, plans and procedures and conduct electrical bench testing per SOPs and verify and review test results. The role requires effective cross-functional collaboration with customer teams including electrical, software/firmware, and management to proactively addressing bugs, blockers and failures to meet aggressive project schedules. Developing high-quality test procedures, expertise in conducting electrical validation testing, proactive problem solving and great communication are key to this role. Validation testing supports the development of high-volume consumer wearables products in pre-production development phases.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create high-quality test procedures and SOPs based on customer requirements. Work cross functionally with customer teams to resolve detailed design questions, proper SW command, specifications, etc.
- Collaboration with customer teams to develop testing strategies and review and approve test procedures.
- Execution of testing per test procedures and publishing detailed test reports. Review of test reports with customer engineers for approval.
- Communicate bugs, blockers and failures effectively.
- Troubleshoot design issues and work with the teams to resolve them.
- Support other team members with testing and report generation.
- Support testing process improvements including automation where applicable.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Abilities:
- Expertise using electrical test equipment, testing tools and software to conduct electrical validation testing.
- Expertise in validation testing SOC based systems and interfaces (I2C, MIPI, UART, USB, DRAM, Displays, camera, sensors) for high volume consumer wearable products. Qualified candidates will have experience with testing these types of systems.
- Experience with high volume consumer products development processes.
- Proficiency in technical documentation including developing electrical test plans and procedures.
- Ability to analyze test data and generate detailed reports.
- Strong understanding of electrical design, schematics and PCB layouts.
- Use of PCB design software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and drive tasks to completion on schedule.
- Risk assessment and mitigation.
- Experience with working with high density PCB assemblies.
- Knowledge of Python scripting, LabView, C/C++, Matlab, and other software tools a plus.
- Proficiency in PCB assembly rework, especially fine-pitch components, a plus.
- BSEE (Electrical Engineering) or higher
- 3+ years' experience in electrical board level testing and validation.
