Job Summary
We are seeking an EEC certified Lead teacher or Director I with prior experience teaching preschoolers. Wonderful opportunity to grow your career if you are a lead teacher and would like to explore administrative opportunities.You may be ready for the next step up as an Early Childhood Director or interested in a unique smaller setting that combines administration with some classroom teaching. Speaking French is absolutely not required. Our team is a mix of anglophone and francophone speaking staff. The candidate will show an ability to demonstrate openness and inclusiveness to a multicultural & diverse community.
Our new Director will be in charge of our Summer Camp program during the summer.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide administrative leadership and management of the preschool program of 39 children that is consistent with EEC licensing regulations and EFGB curriculum and policies
- Provide direct teaching for 12 hours a week in an extended day enrichment program and English classes;
- Oversee Summer Camp program for preschoolers and develop curriculum activities to engage children and support learning
- Supervise, support and guide teachers in the development and implementation of appropriate curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities;
- Provide staff support in positive guidance for children in accordance with outlined guidelines;
- Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff;
- Guide teachers in measuring progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements;
- Create and maintain records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with EEC licensing guidelines and program policies;
- Identify staff and own learning needs; plan professional development opportunities that support ongoing growth;
- Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all staff and children in the classrooms and on the school campus.
Qualifications and Skills
- EEC Director I or II certificate;
- At least 2 years of teaching experience with preschoolers;
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families, staff and children;
- Experience developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and practices;
- Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving;
- Proven ability to maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum;
Applicant must be a positive hand on team player, enjoy being outdoors, and able to multi-task. The candidate should conduct oneself professionally and provide quality teaching and nurturing care to children (21 months to 6 years old) enrolled in the program.
