Essential Duties and Tasks

- Assists with the implementation of safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This includes written programs, recordkeeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training.
- Supports on-site EHS initiatives, assignments, and processes.
- Assists in delivery of safety, health and environmental training programs to ensure employees’ knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to all ProAmpac facilities.
- Completes, as assigned, monthly environmental recordkeeping and inspections as needed to assure compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and requirements.
- Assists with EHS programs, including hazardous waste disposal, cost control/reduction and accident prevention/ reduction, safety behavior audit and risk assessment programs.
- Assists with safety orientation of new hires, contractors and visitors which includes PIV certification if necessary.
- Participates with site safety committee to inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and helps with follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Learns to help analyze manufacturing processes, evaluating production machinery and or chemical exposures to determine safety hazards and alternative solutions.
- Conducts inspections and audits to ensure compliance to the ProAmpac EHS standards.
- Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Interest in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, or related subject matter.
- 2 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Active participant in site Safety Committee or other floor leadership efforts
- Clean safety record and regular, documented participation in employee engagement programs.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Teams and Outlook preferred.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
- Good time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
- Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
- Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection as required.
This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area.
