To ensure MAXIMUS UK Services is fully compliant with UK Environmental health and safety legislation through the delivery of the health, safety and environment strategy and tactical plan across the business. Minimising risks and making all working environments a safe place across the UK by ensuring compliance with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.
• Act as SME operational support for regional/Divisional area. Develop and drive the Environmental Health and Safety plan for the division in pursuit of HSE excellence.
• Provide risk assessment and risk mitigation support for new contracts and site locations.
• Lead on safety culture improvement activities for your area of responsibility, driving a positive safety culture across the organisation as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning action plans, tools and operational programmes.
• Supporting operational teams in achieving adherence to consistently high standards of Environmental, health & safety through audit and monitoring activities to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented to ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation and Certifications.
• Provide EHS assurance to new Bids & Projects including implementation planning and embedding of associated EHS management processes eg risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
• Act as lead for Lone Working risk mitigation - SoloProtect device Management, assessing contract risk, implementation of devices ensuring SoloProtect experts appointed, trained, and effectively managing usage.
• Plan and undertake internal ISO certification standard audits, assess audit results, analyses non-conformities, and monitor corrective actions until closure.
• Analysis of opportunity for improvement to define/promote advances in operating procedures and company processes.
• Summarize and discuss key observations and audit issues with the site/ EHS Board and the Head of EHS.
• Report on Critical and Major risk action items as and when required by the Head of EHS.
• Accountable for Accident/Incident Management for assigned area/Division- Ensure recording, investigation, route cause analysis and remedial actions implemented. Escalated in accordance with serious event protocols to include RIDDOR reporting to the Health & Safety Executive.
• Define and implement safe operational procedures for new contracts identifying and considering all relevant hazards.
• Governance: Divisional Boards - Lead and develop effective stakeholder relationships, Produce Internal reports that highlight areas of risk, review emerging trends, agree actions for improvement or mitigation required, track to completion or escalate where high risk or actions not complete.
• Advise and provide support to Directors, senior Managers, Supervisors and colleagues.
• Management of high-risk Unacceptable Customer Behaviour (UCB) incidents (physical violence and/or weapons present), follow up, mitigation, investigation action monitored to closure.
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety
Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry we operate in.
• Being able and willing to travel distances as directed to support MAXIUS UK Services businesses across all contracts and geography as required
Qualifications and/or Experience
• NEBOSH Diploma
• ISO 14001/45001 audit experience
• Previous experience in a similar role/multi-site environment
• Stakeholder Management
• Previous multi-site experience is ideal.
• Grad IOSH or working towards
