About this Opportunity:
The EHS Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive Safety, Health, and Environmental programs in compliance with federal, state, local, and standards. The primary goal is to foster a proactive EHS culture, reduce workplace incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive environmental sustainability through the effective management of ISO-certified systems, risk mitigation strategies, and employee engagement in safety initiatives.

The EHS Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive Safety, Health, and Environmental programs in compliance with federal, state, local, and standards. The primary goal is to foster a proactive EHS culture, reduce workplace incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive environmental sustainability through the effective management of ISO-certified systems, risk mitigation strategies, and employee engagement in safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the company complies with all federal, state, local, and safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement plans to address new requirements.
- Act as the EHS Management Representative for all regulatory entities, including voluntary programs with agencies.
- Develop and maintain an EHS culture through the monitoring of KPIs such as LTA, NLTA, Near Misses, Unsafe Acts/Conditions, TSV, Ergonomics, EHS Training Hours, Environmental metrics, etc.
- Report on EHS performance to top management and develop action plans for identified risks or reported through KPI analysis.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSH) per ISO 45001.
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding waste management, wastewater discharge, air quality, spill control, and environmental requirements.
- Oversee the Environmental and Energy Management Systems (ISO 14001 & 50001) and drive objectives in these areas.
- Design, plan, and implement EHS training programs to ensure compliance with government and corporate standards.
- Identify EHS training needs and provide specific training as required.
Ergonomic and Safety Evaluations:
- Advise and actively participate in ergonomic and safety evaluations of machinery and equipment to mitigate risks in existing processes and new launches, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate evaluations, inspections, and gemba walks to identify unsafe acts or conditions, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and follow up on action plans.
- Prepare, support, and monitor internal and external EHS audits, including participation in cross-audits within the group.
- Promote and participate in the reporting, analysis, and investigation of accidents, incidents, and occupational diseases to identify root causes, implement sustainable mitigations, and share lessons learned with the team.
- Oversee the entire process in the Enablon platform, ensuring measures are implemented and recorded.
- Serve as a core member of the Emergency Response Team and manage Site Brigades (first aid, spill response, evacuation, communication, and fire response).
- Implement the emergency management program, including overseeing the Pandemic Response Plan to minimize contagion risks.
- Organize, direct, and participate in activities that foster employee participation in safety and environmental programs (safety committees, ergonomics committees, accident investigation committees, etc.).
- Establish and audit safety protocols for critical processes such as LOTO, working at heights, motorized industrial vehicles, contractor safety, confined spaces, and cutting/welding tasks.
- Manage the proper use and administration of PPE based on risk assessments by activity, process, and task.
- Report EHS performance, progress, and improvement recommendations to plant management.
- Has the authority to stop any process that poses a safety, health, or environmental risk, ensuring compliance with EHS Management System procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the QMS as per ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer requirements.
- Plan, develop, and manage the annual EHS operating budget, ensuring compliance within set limits.
- Generate requisitions in SAP for expenses associated with EHS needs.
- Degree in Environmental, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Protection, Business Administration or equivalent
- 7+ Years of Experience in Similar Work Environments
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for safety, health, and environmental programs.
- Experience managing ISO 45001, 14001, and 50001 management systems.
