Job Overview:
Nooks is seeking a Principal Site Lead for our offices in El Segundo, CA. The Principal Site Lead is responsible for Nooks El Segundo's successful business operations, all security programs on site, the customer experience, and our team's welfare. The Principal will report directly to the CEO and will select and lead a team of 15-20 Industrial Security Professionals and business operations professionals. Nooks El Segundo will be a 50 thousand square foot facility comprising multiple classified facilities, unclassified work areas, and top-shelf amenities. The Principal must be a hyper-organized manager with proven operations and project management experience, and they should be intimately familiar with compliance practices for working in classified facilities. As the front line manager for the construction and accrediation of Nooks El Segundo, the Principal will oversee the competion of classified facilities, the unclassified lobbies, and the amenity areas. Following construction, they will lead the team through the accreditation process for the classified areas, bring the site to market, and oversee the daily operations.
The Principal's depth of experience in program/ project management, personnel management, and facility operations will be the difference-maker everyday. We need a Principal with an extensive personal and professional network within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Communities, the leadership acuity to cultivate a world-class technical team, and the entrepreneurial mindset to thrive in a nascent business segment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program & Project Management:
- Work directly with the Director of Operations and Security to complete the construction of Nooks El Segundo. Represent Nooks (the owner) on-site and during all planning and progress engagements with the General Contractor and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary Nooks point of contact with the landlord and the landlord's representatives.
- Ensure all construction security requirements are in place and effective. Conduct security actions as necessary and identify security lapses and/or opportunities for improvement.
- Develop strategic goals with the Nooks Executive Team and with peer Principals at Nooks National Landings (Arlington, VA) and Nook Colorado Springs.
- Lead the planning, oversee the execution, and initiate process improvements for company-wide initiatives and for daily operations at Nooks El Segundo.
- Direct programs and processes in compliance with Industrial Security standards and regulations; implement security and business best practices; comply with applicable safety regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Nooks and with our customers to capitalize on business and security process and policy improvements.
2. Personnel Management:
- Hire, train, and mentor the Nooks El Segundo staff, to include:
- Programs Security Officers for Collateral, SCI, and SAP programs
- IT and Cyber experts for Collateral, SCI, and SAP
- Crypto Manager
- Hire, train, and mentor El Segundo business operations staff, to include:
- User experience managers
- Customer account management
- Technicians, maintenance, and service personnel
- Customer service and support personnel
- Leverage your personal and professional networks to recruit future Nooks employees and participate in screening and hiring activities across the organization.
- Create measurable performance goals for Nooks El Segundo employees, provide consistent performance feedback, and conduct regular evaluations.
- Manage and adjust staff size and requirements to meet operational and strategic goals.
- Cultivate a professional and inclusive environment, promote teamwork and professional development, and emphasize objective accomplishment.
3. Budget and Resource Management:
- In concert with the Chief Financial Officer, develop and manage the facility's budget to deliver efficient and effective resource allocation.
- Prioritize cost control and value engineering.
- Create operational reports to identify and track trends and participate in weekly operational and finance strategy activities.
- Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to secure necessary resources and equipment.
4. Facility Operations:
- Bear the overall responsibility for daily operations at Nooks El Segundo: routine business, customer experience, facility readiness and maintenance, risk mitigation, and Industrial Security compliance and security incident response.
- Forecast and oversee maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to facility infrastructure and systems.
- Implement sustainability initiatives and energy-saving measures as appropriate.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities and agencies as required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Minimum: Bachelor's of Arts or Science from an accredited university with an expected competence for:
- Problem Solving & Critical Thinking

- Written and verbal communication
- Preferred: Master's Degree (MBA or similar preferred)
- Relevant certifications include: Industrial Security, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Program Management, Engineering, Design, Professional Licenses.
- Minimum: Bachelor's of Arts or Science from an accredited university with an expected competence for:
- Classified Environment Experience:
- 10 years of experience or more in classified Department of Defense and Intelligence Community environments.
- Five years of experience or more in classified facility management:
- Design and planning
- Program Security
- Budgeting
- Security construction management for new and renovated facilities under the NIPSOM and/ or the ICD/ICS 705
- Accreditation and implementation of SCIF/SAPF Management Programs during all phases of the facility lifecycle
- Business Operations Experience:
- Program or Project Management: Proven competence in program, operations, or facility management.
- Leadership and personnel management skills: Demonstrated success leading specialized teams and leading teams of diverse skills and levels of experience.
- Budget management and financial analysis: regular participation with the CFO and the primary point of contact for Nooks El Segundo finances.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
