About the Job
POSITION: Electric Lineman
Performs technical and manual work in the installation, maintenance, and
repair of electrical distribution systems for the City. Reports directly to
Electrical Department Superintendent and may report to Lead Line Technician on
specific projects.
DUTIES:
* Erects and repairs distribution power lines, all structures,
equipment, and materials associated with system performance.
* Reads electric meters, distributes shut off notices, and performs
disconnects as needed.
* Inspects electric power lines including steel towers and wood poles, both
from vehicles and on foot. Inspects system for woodpecker damage, cracked or
damaged crossarms and x-braces, loose bolts, broken insulators, missing
vibration dampers, broken or worn conductors, cotter keys, etc.
* Maintains records of findings while patrolling on conditions of poles,
crossarms, insulators, guy wires, access roads and anchors. This
includes test results, inspection results, and time, vehicle, and material usag
* Complies with prescribed clearance procedures and safety rules and
regulations. Recognizes safety hazards and unsafe conditions, and initiates
action to alleviate or eliminate hazards.
* Safely operates heavy equipment associated with power system maintenance.
Heavy equipment includes line trucks, tractor-trailer combinations, aerial
manlifts, trucks, loaders, diggers, motor graders, cranes, crawler
tractor, snow vehicles and snow plows normally used in construction and
maintenance activities of distribution line, substation and communication facil
REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Graduation from hot-line school or equivalent.
* One (1) to Four (4) years of experience in the repair, maintenance and
construction of electric distribution systems.
* Must possess a valid Colorado CDL driver s license.
* Must meet City residency requirement.
WAGE: $77,300 - $90,800/ Yearly
