About the Job
The Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) in midtown Atlanta was developed to provide greater remote support to Georgia-Pacific (GP) manufacturing operations. The CSC team partners with operating facilities by providing collaboration and support across multiple disciplines of expertise (GP and Vendors) to achieve scalable problem-solving across manufacturing sites and businesses. The team uses the best available technology with an enterprise-wide approach, primarily focusing on Asset Health, Process Safety, and Process Optimization. In addition, we are currently seeking qualified professionals to fill the Electrical Asset Health Remote Engineer role to support our asset health monitoring and strategy development of multiple GP sites.

Individuals in this space will need sound technical and communication skills to work collaboratively as part of a team to solve problems. This center will evolve and grow over time, so being flexible and adapting as the CSC adapts to business needs will be crucial. A successful individual in this role must be willing to take personal initiative to understand unit operations, gain relevant knowledge, engage SMEs, and be able to work individually and as a part of a team in a dynamic environment. You must also be responsible and responsive to the needs of the sites that operate 24/7.
We are seeking Electrical Engineers, preferably with experience in a majority of the areas below:
- Electrical Reliability Engineering
- Process Knowledge in either Paper Machines, Pulping, Boilers, Recaust, Discrete Manufacturing
- Data Analysis
- Troubleshooting Electrical Related Issues
- Field Work
What You Will Do
Although employees are expected to flow to the work and adapt to shifting priorities due to business needs, a typical day in life is listed below:
- Review alerts from models deployed on equipment, drilling down to the root cause of the issue and communicating new and worsening issues to the mill.
- Partner with Data Science teams to build and deploy Machine Learning models and review outputs of Machine Learning models to improve models and processes.
- Partner with IT teams to develop data standards and visualization tools for better remote monitoring.
- Partner with sites to plan, implement, and execute reliability projects and strategies.
- Provide mentorship in PBM® culture and increase engineers' technical abilities based on internal and external experience to the CSC.
- Direct input and influence on company standards for proactive maintenance.
- Support sites in troubleshooting efforts during UPEs and participate in subsequent RCAs
- Research new technologies based on gaps in reliability to allow us to assist the mill better.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience troubleshooting power distribution, variable frequency drives, and motors.
- Experience implementing maintenance and reliability programs within an electrical team.
- Strong leadership and communication skills that apply across experience levels and backgrounds.
- Experience using Functional Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for communication, organization, presentations, and data analysis
- Willing and able to travel up to 40% of the time for fieldwork mentioned above
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelors or higher in Electrical Engineering
- Experience using condition-based tools such as Vibration, Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA), Thermography (IR)
- Experience applying Motor and Drive theory and failure modes
- Experience applying various reliability strategies and leading and participating in RCAs and FMEAs
- Experience working within papermaking, pulping, utilities, and converting operations
- Experience applying Electrical Signature Analysis (ESA)
- Experience performing Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA), Thermography (IR), and Ultrasonic (UT)
- Experience with data management systems such as PI or Ignition
