This position is responsible for development and organization of the process and for improvement projects and/or control of the various methods of production. The incumbent works to provide better equipment and practices in order to obtain improved safety, optimum quality, and maximum speeds and yields. The incumbent will also be responsible for implementing procedures, alternate products, and projects with the intent to reduce overall departmental operating costs.

In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is $89,935-$123,661.00.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent has the primary responsibility for plant productivity, organization and improvement of quality, safety and housekeeping. The incumbent acts as a production engineer to facilitate the maximum utilization of equipment and systems to meet daily production requirements.
The incumbent helps ensure that all new equipment and modification to existing equipment is in compliance with safety standards as set forth by the company and government agencies. The incumbent is responsible for installing, testing and debugging of all Glass Products equipment to ensure a smooth start-up. This position may develop and conduct training sessions for newly installed or modified equipment with all efforts directed toward development of employee knowledge base, cost reduction, maximum efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
This position keeps abreast of technological improvements and “Best Practices” at other facilities and in the marketplace and applies them to Glass Products operations. This position makes frequent inspections of equipment and processes and works with supervisors, peers and operating personnel to develop new methods and equipment that will improve quality and promote a more efficient and stable operation.
The incumbent performs the basic duties common to all Engineers and Supervisors, adheres to plant safety and housekeeping guidelines, supports local management and corporate EEO policies; maintains an atmosphere of confidence, mutual trust and respect among employees.
Qualifications:
This position should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college and minimum plant operations experience of 2-5 years. The incumbent must be able to communicate with all levels of technical and operating personnel; must be analytical, perceptive, and capable of applying these traits to problem solving situations; must understand control theory, electrical control circuits, and PLC programming.The incumbent shall be able to create, modify, and troubleshoot Rockwell PLC hardware and software. Also should be familiar with VFD operation, HMI’s and PLC IO control sensors. The incumbent shall also be familiar with statistical process control. The incumbent should be familiar with NFPA electrical codes. The incumbent shall be familiar and have experience with AUTOCAD and reading and creating electrical schematics.
Incumbent should have a continuous improvement mindset, have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Should be able to take a hands-on approach to their work. Should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Should be able to manage capital projects and improvements from conception to implementation, including competitive bidding, funding requests, material purchasing, project scheduling, installation, preventative maintenance, and budget management and documentation creation
