We’re looking for College Interns!
The Cummings Electrical Construction Management Internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on field experience to understand field production and processes on large commercial construction projects. The goal is for each intern to develop proper knowledge and understanding of electrical construction methods, materials and sequences. With supervised practice, the intern will assist the Area Supervisor and/or the Superintendent in the field with coordination and distribution of information required to construct the project on time, within budget and to quality standards.
Responsibilities:What you'll learn with us:
- Assist in managing and developing the construction schedule
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily and weekly reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums
- Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
- Assisting in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating work groups on the jobsite and supervising field operations
- Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Assisting in field surveying and work layout support
- Assist the Superintendent with obtaining information and approvals for processing shop drawings and submittals
- Providing field support and supervise subcontractor operations
- Order and schedule material deliveries, verifying shipment and documentation
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
- Assist Superintendent with interpreting plans, performing material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documents
- Monitor cost control, quality, productivity and safety on projects
- Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties
- Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes
- Uphold safe working conditions and preventative safety measures and ensure compliance and enforcement of safety program at all times
- Maintains positive working environment for entire site team
- Other duties as assigned that are not included, but are within the context of duties define
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:
- Must a sophmore or junior and be actively enrolled in a four-year Bachelor's degree program with at least two (2) years of education and demonstrate interest in the electrical construction industry
- Ability to relocate to DFW for the duration of the program
- Hold a strong academic record
- Excellent communication & written communication skills
- Collaboration and organizational skills
- Good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
- Exhibits professionalism, attention to detail and desire to work in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of commercial building construction activities
- Ability to interact and collaborate with diverse groups of people
- Capable of identifying problems and recommending corrective actions
- Strong ability to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to obtain a Texas Electrical Apprentice License
Qualifications:
