Become an Electrical DCS Engineer at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for the safe and reliable operations and maintenance (O&M) of the various Distributed Control Systems (DCS) used to operate SCE’s Power Generation and Water & Gas systems. You will also assist with architecting and implementing system upgrades and new solutions to challenging issues, including enabling innovative technology in the renewable generation future at SCE.
Additionally,
+ Directs and performs sophisticated DCS maintenance and improvement activities including major logic and design changes, patching, programming, device management, configuration changes and system integration.
+ Resolves minor and/or sophisticated incidents and issues involving control system hardware, software, demonstrating industry and technical experience with DCS and power plant operations.
+ Provides recommendations on potential improvements to control system, which can improve and/or provide efficiencies to power plant operations.
+ Actively participates to establish and complete projects within the Generation portfolio including prioritization, planning, design, execution, testing, and deployment of various control system technologies.

Responsibilities
+ Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources
+ Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards.
+ Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime
+ Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects
+ Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations
+ Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering
+ Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained
+ Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects
+ Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
+ Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
+ Posses a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Proven experience with programing and managing any of the following: Ovation DCS, GE Mark platforms, Woodward, Rockwell solutions and/or any other major DCS technology platform.
+ Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power System Engineering, or Power Plant Engineering expertise.
+ Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Remote Intelligent Gateways (RIG’s), Water SCADA, Burner Management System (BMS) and other control system platforms
+ Experience working with heavy-duty gas/steam turbines and aero-derivative turbines.
+ Ability to self-start, be proactive, take initiative, be resilient, tackle challenges and rise to such.
+ Experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) for control systems.
+ Experience with department planning and budgeting.
+ Being flexible in approach, strong customer service and ability to travel.
+ Ability to present in front of a group, lead and optimally manage meetings.
+ Excellent communication & teamwork skills
Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

+ The primary work location for this position is Redlands, CA (located at a combined cycle power plant); however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time across the various power generation sites within SCE’s territory to support plants and technology systems 24/7 uptime operations during off-hours on an as needed basis.
+ Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. Must be able to drive, take boats or other transportation methods (as needed) and occasionally work in off-road or hiking conditions (some of our assets may be in remote places).
+ This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
+ Relocation may apply to this position.
