Job Details
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Mechanical HVAC Designer to join our fast-paced Engineering team. This is a permanent position where you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical systems for buildings in the K-12, higher education, and government space.
Design Electrical systems for diverse markets (mission critical, communications, commercial, government, etc.).
Perform site surveys. Field verification and documentation of existing systems.
Coordinates and communicates Electrical systems with other departments and disciplines.
Utilize CAD/REVIT to document design as needed.
Communicate and coordinate drawing development with Production Department.
Communicate with equipment vendors for selecting equipment.
Coordinate development of drawings with designers, production department and other engineers.
Documents project specifications.
Develop design concepts.
Identify roadblocks during design and communicate with Project Manager, Engineer of Record and Director of Engineering.
Responsible for assisting during construction administration phase:
Review submittals, RFIs, change orders.
Perform site visits.
Document and publish observation reports and punch list items.
Electrical-specific responsibilities
Perform energy code compliance calculations.
Review code requirements pertinent to the design.
Design electrical systems which include power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communication, and control systems for buildings.
Determine the electrical load requirements and distribution layouts to ensure efficient power distribution.
Ensure that the electrical designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.
Perform electrical calculations such as load analysis, voltage drop calculations, and short-circuit analysis.
Prepare detailed specifications, drawings, and documents for electrical systems.
Assist in preparing existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports. Provide engineering assessment of quality and life expectancy of equipment.
Coordinate design with other internal and external disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, and equipment suppliers.
Conduct job site observations and develop reports of findings.
Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
Participate in project and client meetings when requested.
Travel to project site and meetings as needed.
Coordinate building service with power company.
Document basis of design requirements for project.
Documents details in contract documents.
Review Architectural, Civil and Technology drawings, identify and communicate coordination items to project manager.
