Description
As an Electrical Engineer you will have ownership over design and testing of hardware designs for spacecraft bus and/or payload development. You will be expected to work within a cross-disciplinary team supporting the development of electrical systems for use in satellites. You must be willing to learn and adapt to working outside of your comfort zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high reliability electrical systems and PCBs for satellite devices.
- Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and test.
- Perform PCB troubleshooting and root cause analysis down to component level.
- Be responsible for entire satellite electrical system.
- Define and lead satellite harness definition and fabrication processes.
- Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and general documentation required for design transfer to fabrication and assembly.
- Maintain and update requirements and design documentation throughout the entire system life cycle
- Maintain effective communication with all the functional groups to ensure project success (such as mechanical, manufacturing, software, test, and supply chain)
- Support on-orbit operations as electrical systems subject matter expert
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
- 2-4 years of hardware development experience in PCB board design and layout and electronic system prototyping and validation
- Advanced proficiency with design tools for schematic capture (Altium preferred)
- Comfortable working in the lab with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and logic analyzers
- Demonstrates strong technical ability and creativity at a fundamental level
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Passion for space and curiosity for electronics in high-reliability applications
- Excitement for making systems smarter, better, faster, cheaper
- Experience making products or systems work with minimal time and resources
- Experience with developing fundamentally new hardware, not just incrementally updating legacy hardware
- Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice
- Soldering skills on surface mount and thru-hole components
- Experience with switching power supply design.
- Experience with requirements management
- Experience with system verification and validation
- Embedded systems and microcontroller implementation and programming
- Understanding of analog high speed and differential signal routing
- Experience with high performance digital processors, FPGAs, memory chips, or network switches
- Experience with circuit board design-for-manufacturability, productization of electronics
