Electrical Engineer - Engineering Innovation, Inc

Job Description

Primarily responsible for designing electrical systems such as power distribution, controls, circuit boards…etc. Also integrates electrical devices into new or existing products. They also document what they design.The Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager, and the job duties are to be completed in our Lafayette, Indiana office.  This is not a remote position.

Position primary responsibilities include:

• Using computer-assisted design software to create and maintain schematics, design documentation, and engineering change requests.
• Researching, testing, and installing electronic equipment for use in automated mail sorting.
• Working with vendors to specify and procure hardware as part of project implementation. 
• Working in multi-functional, cross-organizational teams to achieve company goals.
• Preparing for and participating in engineering reviews.
• Limited traveling to customer sites as needed.
   

Degree or equivalent experience preferred:

• Electrical Engineering - Bachelors or Masters
• Electrical Engineering Technology - Bachelors or Masters

Successful candidates will possess:

• Experience with component selection
• Board level DC to DC Voltage switcher design
• Working understanding of DC circuitry
• CAN bus, serial/RS485, ethernet, ASI
  • Signal integrity understanding
• Experience with circuit design, circuit board layout, package design
• Experience with microcontroller design and integration
• Understanding of multi-phase AC power systems
• AC to DC conversion understanding
• Experience with Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Resource Program (ERP) software and strategies
• Possessing knowledge and experience using tools such as an oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer for testing and debugging.
• Experience building prototype circuits, soldering, desoldering SMD and TH components
• Experience with industrial panel design
• Working knowledge of industry standards: IEC, OSHA, NEC
• Knowledge of designing for ESD immunity
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
   

Experience with the following is a plus:

• Solidworks Electrical
• Eagle
• Altium Designer
• Peripheral integration
• General CAD experience
