Alphanumeric is hiring an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to work in Lake Mary, FL with an environmental-friendly energy innovator focused on sustainability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Evaluate and apply methods and techniques to develop electrical installation and commissioning procedures implementing standard engineering criteria, using independent judgment with moderated supervision.
* Review electrical engineering designs, including single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, connection diagrams, protection schemes, equipment tree line diagrams, load lists, etc.
* Evaluate Alternate Current and Direct Current designs capable of developing power plant standard equipment installation and commissioning procedures.
* Basic knowledge of main power plant electrical components, such as power and distribution transformers, control transformers, current transformers, generators, Automatic Voltage Regulators, static frequency converters, generator protection panels, and other auxiliary equipment.
* Basic knowledge of gas turbine control, governor for speed control, main instruments and control loops, and auxiliary gas turbine equipment.
* Ensures electrical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
* Effectively coordinates support to field engineers, including requests for materials specifications for equipment supplied by the company. Also, review the request for information RFI's.
* Correctly interprets and applies codes and standards and customer design requirements to prepare electrical erection and commissioning procedures, specifications, material requests, and system descriptions related to supplied equipment.
* Conduct extensive document and design verification to bring a complete set of electrical procedures deliverables. Manage time efficiently to meet submission dates.
* Participate in a work environment of openness, trust, communication, teamwork, innovation, and satisfaction.
* Assist in coordinating with site teams, suppliers, quality teams, and contractors to ensure proper installation and commissioning of power plant electrical systems.
* Support site teams provided technical electrical engineering recommendations to solve site issues. Elaborate technical reports, presentations, and detailed research documentation for all projects and initiatives related to the electrical discipline.
* Knowledge to perform evaluations on short circuits, and coordination of protection studies.
* Support and provide direction on project construction sites to ensure projects are constructed according to specific designs, and local standards.
* Ensures projects conform with federal, state, local, and company engineering standards and specifications.
* Visits project job sites during pre-construction and construction activities to support project needs.
* Analyze test results of electrical installations and equipment
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
* BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Proficient experience in:
* Microsoft Office Suite programs.
* Knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
* Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
* Understanding engineering discipline drawings and system calculations such as short circuits and load-flow.
* Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
* Must effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
* Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
* Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
* Excellent oral & written communication skills.
