Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant located in Amarillo, Texas.
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance Y-12's core mission to ensure a safe, secure, and reliable U.S. nuclear deterrent, which is essential to national security. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from Y-12 staff employed directly by the security complex. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Responsibilities
+ Provide CNS Mission Engineering with full time electrical design engineering support in Y-12 facility design for facility and production area activities needed to expedite the closure of Change Requests for Configuration Managed systems that have been returned to service for longer than 90 days.
+ Responsibilities include but not limited to:
+ The Engineer must have familiarity with and experience in developing design output in accordance with CNS and consensus national standards (ie. NFPA 70/ National Electrical Code, ASME, etc.);
+ Experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable along with an understanding of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Operations for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment,
+ Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various production and support organizations.
+ Review Change Requests (CRs) for systems that have been Returned to Service (RTS) >90days that have not been closed,
+ Identify the Affected Documents associated with CRs RTS that need to be revised to reflect the work covered by the CR,
+ Perform walkdowns as needed to verify that the work covered by the CRs has been performed,
+ Review and compare information shown on Affected Documents to work defined by the CRs,
+ Prepare redline markups of Affected Documents to reflect the incorporation of the work covered by the CRs,
+ Provide the redlined copy of the Affected Documents to drafting personnel for incorporation onto the Parent CM document,
+ Provide check/verification that Affected Documents reflect incorporation of CR information correctly.
Qualifications
+ BA / BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from ABET accredited university.
+ Preferred BS Degree in Computer Engineering.
+ 15 - 20 years of direct experience.
+ Ideal candidates will have some or all of the skills listed below:
+ Circuit design and analysis.
+ Embedded system design and coding.
+ Radio Frequency (RF).
+ Network Analyzers.
+ Programming - C, C#, C++, Labview.
+ National Instruments.
+ Verilog.
+ VHDL.
+ PCB Design.
+ Test Automation.
+ The ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance is required.
+ Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
+ Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.
+ This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
