Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics/Control Design) – Mid-Level – Ellicott City, MD

Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer, with a preference for specializing in Power Electronics Hardware and/or Control Design.

More specifically, Power Electronics / Electrical Engineers will be involved in:

Responsibilities

Design and testing of SiC-based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives.
Design and test DSP-based digital control algorithms, FPGA modulators, and PLC-based high-level system controllers.
Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware.
Design and test low (1.2 - 1.7 kV) and medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.
Design embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, and other embedded algorithms.
Develop Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop test setups, control cards, and control algorithms.
Experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state-transformers, and printed circuit board design experience highly desirable

Minimum Requirements:

United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
5-11 years of electrical engineering experience
BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related major required, with a minimum 3.3 GPA, MS and PhDs a plus.
Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
