This position will be a full-time position supporting the NASA White Sands Test Facility Propulsion Department.

This position requires working with both mechanical and electrical managers, engineers, project leads, and technician crews in both the 300 and 400 test areas in Propulsion. The Propulsion Department Electrical Branch Manager is a member of the Propulsion management team and will report to the Department Manager.

Responsibilities:
The NASA WSTF Propulsion Department Electrical Engineering Branch Manager is a key leadership position responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a team of approximately 30 individuals consisting of engineers, technicians, and IT/programmers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering with experience in project management, team leadership, and personnel development. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the branch's operations, including project management, technical performance, team, and personnel management.
The Branch Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan for personnel growth within the branch. They will work closely with the NASA client to identify and develop project resources for NASA’s contracts with clients. The Branch Manager will be expected to lead and mentor a team of engineers and support staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Qualifications:
Authority in engineering. Accountable for design, development, test, implementation, and analysis. Recognized as the technical expert and resource in specialized areas of engineering. Recommends alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possesses 10-15 years of related experience. Consummate expert in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsible and accountable for the solution of complex total system problems. Directs, guides, and coordinates activities of a team/teams of technical personnel performing complex engineering activities. A wide degree of autonomy, creativity and latitude is expected. The technical peer of top management and a member of this contract’s leadership inner circle.
Demonstrated leadership ability and good communication skills are required, with previous management experience a plus. Extensive experience in electrical systems design, instrumentation, data acquisition and controls is required. Previous experience leading or supervising craft personnel in a union environment is required. Must have demonstrated very strong commitment to safety. Must have experience in current industrial safety best practices related to lock-out-tag-out, fall protection, and confined space entry.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain operations and safety practices. Candidate must be able to effectively speak to large groups on occasion. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must pass a federal background investigation. Must pass an employment physical and submit to drug testing. Internal candidates may be given first consideration before external candidates will be considered.
