About the Job
The successful candidate will:
- Recruit, mentor and retain staff within the mechanical discipline.
- Assign and schedule work flow.
- Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
- Coordinate electrical design requirements with architecture, structure and other disciplines.
- Lead and perform analysis, design and documentation of large and/or complex building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm, security, audio/visual and telecommunications systems.
- Serve as electrical systems specialist, conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope/complexity and devise solutions.
- Conduct quality control review of projects.
- Enforce guidelines, standards and details.
- Meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors and others to address electrical discipline issues and to develop effective working relationships.
- Visit construction sites as required for observation, answering contractor questions, or representing the owner in preparing punch lists. Prepare, review and approve CA field observation reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Prior experience leading a team of Engineers.
- Bachelor"s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer designing unique electrical systems on complex projects.
- Experience with direct client contact.
- Experience with specification writing, construction administration, multi discipline coordination, scheduling, and management of multiple electrical engineering projects.
- Previous experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm as an electrical engineer designing electrical systems for Commercial, Educational (K-12 and Higher Education), Civic Projects, or Government projects (State or Federal).
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Degree in Engineering.
- LEED Accredited Professional with experience participating in LEED projects.
- Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
- An appreciation and understanding of architectural design and how architects work and think.
- Experience with BIM work flow.
