Compensation: $140K-$180K
Reporting: Director of Engineering
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of circuit card assemblies and electronic systems
- Manage the specification and control of the Printed Circuit Board artwork process and Printed Wiring Board fabrication
- Integrate the engineering functions of Electronic Design, PWB layout, and Component Engineering in the efficient development of the companies products
- Support programs in a matrix organization structure
- Direct and coordinate all activities necessary to complete a major electrical engineering project or several small projects
- Support the definition and implementation of processes and tools for the improvement of our products
- Provide technical support as required by customers or other departments
Technical Direction
- Monitor and recommend application of the latest technologies (State of the Art) in process, components, and design technology
- Technical expert and/or “Principal Investigator”
- Lead peer reviews for technical development
- Responsible for proper review and release of Electrical drawings and documents
- Participate in CCA’s troubleshooting and RCCAs as needed
Process
- Define process for the engineering design activity of discipline
- Train personnel to the process
- Monitor/enforce the process
- Initiate major development process phase transitions (i.e. authorization to proceed to design only after completion and approval of requirements)
Development Program Cost and Schedule Performance Review
- Negotiate and establish task budget for a development program
- Communicate and obtain budget commitments from the staff assigned to the task
- Review cost and percentage complete reports from PMO, summarizing performance
- Analyze performance and determine areas requiring improvement
- Record and establish “go-forward” estimation based on past performance
Administration
- Personnel/staff manager
- Performance reviews
- Crafting career paths
- Training programs
- Discipline/corrective actions
- General Admin: Time cards, vacation approval, etc.
Staffing and Task Assignment
- Recruiting: job descriptions, resume reviews, interviewing, etc.
- Allocation of personnel to programs
- Establish and Track Department Budget
- Define required tools and annual maintenance
- Track external training, conferences, etc.
- Identify additional staffing requirements
New Business Support
- Provide Technical Proposal Support
- Define proposal technical approach and write-up
- Provide BOEs for cost estimates
- Provide on-call Technical Support for Customer Interactions/Questions
- Work with key engineers in group to author and publish “White Papers” and Technical Articles
Requirements:
Requirements:
· BS Engineering degree or equivalent
· 10 years in Electronic Engineering and a minimum of 3+ years of lead/management
· Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US
Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years’ experience as Engineering Manager in a matrix organization structure
- Recent Technical experience in Aerospace industry environment applications (Mil/Aero and Space)
