Cavanaugh Electrical Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for analyzing electrical project documents, determining the cost of materials and labor, and preparing competitive bids for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical codes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders. - Project Estimation: Analyze electrical prints and project documents to determine materials required for takeoff and labor needs.
- Cost Evaluation: Calculate the amount, type, and cost of materials, and determine labor requirements to develop competitive project estimates.
- Profitability Analysis: Assess the potential profitability of electrical projects and assist management in making informed bidding decisions.
- Bid Submission: Prepare and submit competitive bids for electrical projects, adhering to company guidelines and industry standards.
- Cost Efficiency: Identify cost-saving strategies by improving estimation processes and reducing discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Vendor & Client Communication: Collaborate with clients, vendors, and team members to gather necessary information and ensure clear communication throughout the estimation process.
- Project Documentation: Ensure a thorough understanding of project documents, including blueprints, to produce accurate estimates.
- Market Research: Analyze project size, duration, and market competition to ensure the best possible bid submissions.
- Database Management: Regularly update cost databases to account for fluctuating material and labor costs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical construction markets.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and Life Safety standards.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and project documents across all disciplines, not just electrical.
- Bachelor's degree in construction science, engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification through the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) is advantageous.
- Valid electrician's license required.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Experience with Procore, McCormick, and Accubid (preferred).
